The Royal Grammar School is pleased to have been one of the pioneers of Morrisby Online and we have used it successfully for the past four years.

It presents to students and parents a package providing them with a comprehensive profile, based upon both a psychometric and an interests assessment. Additionally, optional questionnaires can be taken to test mechanical skills, spatial awareness and to bring the student’s personality attributes into play. The package presents subject options at various stages of the student’s educational path, as well as careers suggestions. The student can manage these (selecting favourites, discarding others) and the information linked to each subject, course or career suggestion is quite extensive. Morrisby have remained dynamic with regular upgrades and improvements, such as extending coverage of the routes into a given career and direct linkage to other resources such as the UCAS search engine.

We installed Morrisby Online into our Careers programme as a platform for all year groups from Year 10 through to the end of Sixth Form. It creates a valuable discussion focus for individual subject choice/careers interviews in advance of GCSEs and, with each student having a login for life and the facility to retake the interests questionnaires as they mature, it is used again post-GCSE, when advising students on possible routes beyond A Level. We especially like the opportunity for the careers adviser to add an interview report to the profile, so students, parents and careers staff can view it online, and that students can add their own notes to help them formulate plans and to help continuity between discussions.

With the most recently introduced ‘lighter’ interests questionnaire for younger students, we are considering bringing Morrisby Online forward into our Year 9 programme.

The bottom line to add is that this package is very good value for money at approximately £25 per head.

Introducing Morrisby Online has achieved this in one fell swoop and played a significant part in our reaccreditation in June 2017 for what is now the Quality in Careers Standard.

Morrisby staff have been extremely supportive throughout

Sheffield Girls’ have used the paper based Morrisby psychometric tests with our Y10 students for many years. We have also used Kudos with Y9s. However, I was keen for our students to recognise these assessments as part of a seamless careers guidance package, designed to help them with all the educational and career decisions they will be making throughout their time at our school and beyond. I also wanted to move everything online and look for potential cost savings.

Moving to Morrisby Online last year has been perfect on all counts. We bought the assessment packages for all our students from Y7 upwards which represented a significant saving. We are in the process of rolling it out to different year groups at appropriate stages while introducing it to parents at key parents events throughout the year and by emailing out the highly professional marketing materials provided by the Morrisby Organisation. Delivering the assessments to the Y10s in June 2017 was straightforward and much less arduous for the students who respond so much better to doing assessments online in a shorter time. The simplicity of the system also allows for students to complete the tests at home if they are unavailable for the scheduled date in school. Students receive the results of the assessments as soon as they have completed them. I also like the fact that they can repeat the Aspirations and Personality assessments as often as they like as these are definitely things that can change with age and have a significant influence on career choice. Morrisby staff have been extremely supportive throughout, visiting me at school twice to make sure I understood the packages and responding immediately to telephone/email queries.

We have also used careers advisers employed by Morrisby to interview our Y11 students, using their Morrisby Online results from Y10. All three advisers were excellent and worked with the students to produce an on-line action plan exploring Post 16 and potential career choices. We have been able to use these with students as part of our Transition Mentoring process in Y11 and can build on them in Sixth Form where students can use additional sections of their Morrisby package to explore post 18 choices and to develop their UCAS personal statement.

Providing a more cohesive CEIAG package was an action point when we attained Career Mark accreditation in 2015. Introducing Morrisby Online has achieved this in one fell swoop and played a significant part in our reaccreditation in June 2017 for what is now the Quality in Careers Standard.

Morrisby online is the perfect tool in school for students to allow them to develop confidence about their future plans. They become more self aware and they can research education pathways and careers to suit their interests and strengths. Students can tailor suggested careers to suit their personality, talents and/or aptitudes. Morrisby online is also the perfect tool to encourage discussion at home as parents can share access to their daughter/son's results and support them through option choices at 14,16 and 18.

It is also the perfect tool for careers consultations between adviser and student. It reveals the student's strengths following the psychometric testing and outlines aspirations and talents following the interests questionnaire. It gives a springboard for discussion and a chance for students to ask questions about these career pathways. I find that our students benefit from the whole process of online testing and then detailed analysis of results in consultation. In the consultation, an Action Plan and careers ambitions pack are created and these provide students with tailored information, helping them to achieve their goals. It's a privilege to analyse every students' results with them and help them to feel positive and confident about their career path ahead.

We are delighted that all our students benefit from Morrisby online in years 10-13 and will continue to do so once they have left Dame Allan's. Morrisby online is an excellent tool for life which will engage students more and more as students mature and the results develop with them. We have peace of mind knowing that our students don't leave careers advice behind at Dame Allan's; Morrisby online is with our students to inform, guide and support them for life. Mapping Morrisby online against the eight Gatsby Good Careers Guidance Benchmarks

As part of our well established careers provision, we have been offering student guidance via Morrisby for over 20 years (Benchmark 1).

A student's Morrisby results- following psychometric testing and interests questionnaire- address the strengths and aspirations of every individual (Benchmark 3). Students quote directly from Morrisby online in their CVs offering employers a good insight into the student's strengths (Benchmark 5). Students have independent access to impartial information and guidance addressing their needs (Benchmark 3) and can research relevant education pathways (Benchmark 7) and careers and labour market information (Benchmark 2). At the careers consultation, the results are analysed and personal guidance is given in the form of a careers ambitions pack (Benchmark 8). The careers ambitions Pack includes an action plan which records the conversation in consultation (Benchmark 3 and 8). These records/plans include - students' aspirations and how to research further (Benchmarks 3 and 8) Direct links are made between GCSEs, A'level choices, HE choices and careers (Benchmark 4 and 7) information about careers, LMI, companies and ideas for work experience placement applications (Benchmark 2 and planning for 5 and 6), and how to stand out from the rest (Benchmarks 1, 3 ,8)

Well established stable careers provision in schools (Benchmark 1) recognise that these eight benchmarks are crucial but do not end as the student leaves school. The guidance just begins at school. Morrisby is well prepared as this is the ultimate tool for life; seeing students safely on their career journey at school and beyond school. Students can continue to maintain their own progress and tailor information as they meet careers for real instead of as a concept. They can develop confidence as they research all information and retain the independence Morrisby offers to them even once they have left school. It is the perfect leaving gift we can give to our students.

Morrisby Online has made a big difference to careers work in our school

... we have seen a massive increase in how informed they are about any careers and courses they are considering

Morrisby Online has made a big difference to Careers work in our school during the two years that we have been using it. The fact that they can do the assessments online and that they can receive their results so much more quickly than with the paper version has meant that the students have engaged much more positively with the whole process right from the start.

The presentation of the results is attractive and easy to understand and gives direct access to a wealth of careers information. This makes advising students so much easier. By the time we have our individual meetings with the students, they have generally started making good use of their webspace, so we have seen a massive increase in how informed they are about any careers and courses they are considering. This has enabled our conversations with them to be far more focused – a real asset when time is short.

Having information about careers and career routes at your fingertips when discussing a student's profile enables real progress to be made, whether a student has a clear view of their intended career or not. The students have really enjoyed the interactive nature of the webspace, especially the What if? tool and the fact that they can do the questionnaire again. We see this as a something that we will continue to make full use of as students progress into the Sixth Form and beyond.

The downloadable report template has been used with great success by our year 11 tutors when discussing results and creating action plans with individual pupils.

The support from Morrisby in our first year has been exceptional and all queries have been resolved very quickly.

Having switched to Morrisby from using a selection of providers for our year 9 to 11 careers provision, we are convinced it will be much easier to track progression and update information from year to year. Completing the questionnaires and psychometric tests online has been much more practical and given us greater flexibility with dates.
