St Lawrence College saw huge success with Morrisby Profile, supporting 5th and 6th form students with uncovering their subject and career paths.
Founded in 1879, St Lawrence College is a non-selective co-educational boarding and day school for about 625 pupils in the south east of England. The school attracts a diverse array of pupils, both from abroad and the UK.
Increasing student confidence
Having seen encouraging results from other schools, we decided to trial Morrisby Profiling in our 5th and 6th Forms. Our aim was to increase confidence in A-Level and university subject choices, however, the benefits of Morrisby Profiling extended much further into the academic life of our students and their self-confidence.

Morrisby Profiling has been a game-changer for many of our 5th and 6th form students. The synthesis of aptitudes gives a far more meaningful outcome than traditional psychometric tests, culminating in insightful and inspiring outcomes for our students:
- One 5th form student, inspired by a strong mechanical aptitude score, found a renewed confidence in his abilities and is now thriving on an Engineering BTEC Diploma with a clear pathway to university.
- A 6th form student who had become discouraged was buoyed up by his assessment and achieved A-Level grades two points higher than expected.
- A numerically talented young man who did not want to follow his parents into finance found that his other aptitudes signposted him towards surveying. We arranged varied surveying work experience (which he loved) and, at time of writing, he now has a full-house of excellent university offers.
Aptitudes outcomes from Morrisby Profiling are gentle and positive in their presentation. Without fail, the results encourage students and stimulate fruitful conversations about subject and career paths. The most able students feel affirmed by an unbiased assessment of their abilities; those with more modest talents invariably find inspiration in the suggestions occasioned by a combination of aptitudes. Students who are underperforming have regained confidence in their abilities which has had a direct and measurable impact on subsequent academic achievement.
