Morrisby Guidance Service (MGS)
Morrisby Guidance Service
The Morrisby Organisation produces the most popular careers guidance system in use in the UK. This system, known as the Morrisby Guidance Service, offers objective aptitude and personality measurement linked to a sophisticated interests questionnaire.
The service is designed for careers professionals who require a comprehensive psychological profile of an individual, supported by a state-of-the-art computerised report. The report, which is offered on a bureau basis by The Morrisby Organisation, has been specifically written for use in a careers guidance setting and is supplemented by a set of careers adviser's notes.
The core of the system is a test battery called the Morrisby Profile (MP). This is an integrated set of twelve paper and pencil tests which assess aptitude and work based personality.
The client receives a score on each of the measures which is then presented as a profile. Although the scores allow clients to be compared with each other, the "shape" of the profile is used to show a client's own strengths and limitations, and a detailed interpretation is based on the relationship of the scores with each other.
The Morrisby Profile assesses:
- Abstract reasoning
- Verbal, Numerical, Perceptual, Spatial and Mechanical aptitudes
- Preferred learning style
- Practicality
- Planning style
- Awareness & Flexibility
- Commitment & confidence
- Team & leadership style
- Manual speed & skill
A client's interests are measured using the Morrisby Careers Questionnaire (MCQ). This is a questionnaire which is designed to show whether a person prefers to operate with:
- People (Caring, Advising, Helping, Persuading)
- Information (Organising, Analysing, Interpreting)
- Things (Practical, Technical, Scientific, Artistic)
It also examines where, with whom and in what style a person prefers to work, and assesses their aspirations and study intentions.
The results of the MP and the MCQ are presented in an extensive report which also lists twelve job suggestions.
Benefits of the MGS
