Malcolm Morrisby

Managing Director

Malcolm joined the company in 1978 and since then has been responsible for its day-to-day management as well as the design and implementation of guidance and assessment systems. As son of the Company's founder, John Morrisby, Malcolm has psychometrics in his blood. He studied neurophysiology at Imperial College and organisational psychology at the University of East London.

His main designs include the Morrisby Guidance Service, a pioneering expert careers guidance system, and UKCourseFinder, the first web-based questionnaire and analysis system for degree course choice. Malcolm also designed the first fully integrated, web-based careers guidance and management system, FastTomato.com, and has recently been involved with developing computer adaptive questionnaires, such as those used within Prefinio.com.

He is dedicated to harnessing the power of IT to help individuals discover their true potential and effectively manage their own career paths.

Trish Tomkins

Company Secretary

Trish was born and educated in South Africa, and attended Rhodes University before emigrating to the UK in 1977. She has worked for a wide variety of organizations including NHS hospitals and Merrill Lynch in London. She joined The Morrisby Organisation in 2002, working primarily on the administrative side of the business, including the registration and customisation of Fast Tomato accounts, and assisting with Fast Tomato enquiries.

As well as being the quality manager for the organisation, her other duties include database maintenance, and scanning & validation of answer booklets. She has recently taken on the role of Company Secretary.

Ian Sharp

Director

As a Chartered Occupational Psychologist (HPC registered), Ian's main responsibilities include product development and training. His expertise involves working with guidance professionals in careers organisations, schools and local authorities or with HR professionals to support the specialised use of our assessment and guidance products. This includes developing new solutions for clients, delivering psychometric training to individuals and organisations and dealing with technical enquiries relating to psychological profiling.

Ian’s other work includes psychometric development, HR, consultancy, as well as commercial and customer service responsibilities. Prior to joining Morrisby in 2004, he worked as an occupational psychologist with Connexions in Lancashire. Originally from the Lake District, Ian gained his Bachelor's degree from Hull University and following a number of years commercial and management experience in industry, his Master's degree from the University of Leicester.

Gareth Bithell

Web Developer

Following a degree in Physics at Bath University, Gareth spent a year working at a church based community centre on the Wirral, before embarking on a career in IT. He joined Morrisby in 2004 and initially worked on developments to Fast Tomato. Since then he has been involved in the development of The Morrisby Organisations other web based products, notably Prefinio which was launched in 2008.

Gareth’s other responsibilities include maintaining in-house IT systems as well as providing telephone support to users of Morrisby web sites

Steve O'Hara

Web Developer

Steve is one of the latest additions to our team, joining us in February 2009. From leaving Sheffield Hallam University in 2004 with a degree in Software Engineering, Steve has since specialised in website and user interface design and has over 5 years experience firmly planted in the World Wide Web. Prior to joining The Morrisby Organisation, Steve was a lead Web Developer for Bank of America and MBNA for 4 years, working on projects with many big names in the UK financial sector.

Steve likes to ensure that the work he produces is creative, user friendly and accessible to a wide audience. Since joining the team, Steve has supported and helped develop a range of Morrisby products. He has been involved with developing our newest product Prefinio, as well as supporting our more established products.

Chris Addley

Occupational Psychologist in training

Chris achieved his first degree in Law and Business Administration from Keele University. Following this he spent a number of years working in the retail industry before going back to university to read for a degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Occupational Psychology from Hertfordshire University.

He joined The Morrisby Organisation in 2008 as an Occupational Psychologist in training and his main duties include: working on the design and development of new products and services; writing online help systems; conducting training sessions; carrying out continual statistical analysis and refinement of measurement and assessment tools; recruitment and selection; quality; and customer service.

Gill Young

Accounts administrator

Gill is one of our long-standing members of staff having joined the organisation in 1987. Originally employed as part of our data analysis team, Gill has also spent time performing various office administrative duties, including data inputting and general office administration, including book-keeping. Gill is now mainly responsible for Accounts, including sales ledger and purchasing, but as one of our more experienced staff members is also heavily involved in other aspects of the business.

Jackie Gibbs

Office Administrator/Receptionist

Jackie is the first point of contact for the vast majority of customers who make contact with The Morrisby Organisation by telephone or email. Jackie joined us in 2007 and has a key administrative role which involves liaising with customers, order processing, sales and commercial proposals, despatch and customer support including general enquiries relating to the Morrisby Guidance Service and the FastTomato website. Jackie has always worked in Customer Service/Administration and really enjoys building good working relationship with customers.

Joan Law

Careers Information Officer

Joan’s main work involves overseeing the huge amount of careers, course and qualification information and related areas found in Morrisby products. This includes checking and updating information, contact details, course and qualification information, as well as reviewing information shown on websites and involvement in marketing activities. Joan is also the company’s internal quality auditor. Joan joined Buckinghamshire Careers Service in 1989, and after some time in administrative and careers assistant roles, studied the Diploma in Careers Guidance at University of East London in 1992. Joan has worked as generic careers adviser, a Connexions personal adviser with a strong interest in information, then full-time with VT Hints prior to joining Morrisby in mid-2006. During her time with Hints she was responsible for compiling their careers information libraries and advising on school careers resources through delivering seminars and workshops at resources fairs around the country.

Margaret Finnimore

Data Analyst

Margaret is responsible for managing the data analysis aspects of our bureau service. This is a sophisticated process, which involves scanning Morrisby test papers, answer books and questionnaires, as well as validating scanned images and electronic scores for inconsistencies.

Prior to joining the company in 1986, Margaret held a clerical position with the Bank of England. Her keen eye for detail coupled with knowledge and experience from over 24 years with the company means that customers can be confident of an accurate and efficient service. She has seen the bureau service change from a manual process, with the scoring of test papers by hand, to the computerised systems we have today.

Margaret is also responsible for ensuring that customers receive their completed reports on time, but is on hand to deal with any related customer queries and enquiries.

Emma Mills

Data Analyst

Emma, who joined us in 2009, is part of our data analysis team. Emma is also responsible for providing content for some of our other products and online systems such as UKCourseFinder. Emma has a degree in Statistics with French from The University of Central Lancashire, and is also a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA), having qualified in 2002 whilst working for a major high street retailer.

Larraine Knight

Office Administrator

Larraine joined the company in July 2007 as an office administrator. Larraine’s main work involves general office administration, but primarily she oversees the binding, packing and despatch of our commercial and guidance reports.

Paul Gates

Network/Print Support

Paul joined us in 1992 and during that time has been involved in various roles. Paul’s main responsibilities include the management of internal and external company networks, mail servers and office hardware and software requirements. The preparation, printing and despatch of Morrisby Guidance Service reports, customer support for www.morrisbyprofile.com and online PDF reports.
